“For those of you who have glimpses of your purpose and then get stuck in the detail, it is important to step out of the day to day running of the business and tap into the bigger picture.“
There are many ways you can grow your business. In our organisation we spend a lot of time collaborating with key experts from all walks of life to help you do just that. But one thing I have realised when comparing good businesses with the really great ones is that there is one thing that truly sets them apart.
It’s not money, or staff, or clients. Sure all those things are there, but they are a result of something else.
To put it simply, this one great thing is an awareness and focus of the true purpose of the business and its owner.
These businesses and their owners not only focus on the day to day essentials of running a business, they also focus on why they entered the business in the first place.
That is a big concept I know. But the fact remains that those who invest the time to truly discover what their business purpose is, cannot help but thrive.
For those of you who have glimpses of your purpose and then get stuck in the detail, it is important to step out of the day to day running of the business and tap into the bigger picture.
Three ways I find that help me to connect with my business purpose on a regular basis are:
Reading inspirational books – there are so many out there and I suggest you buy a kindle and type in key words that interest you in the search function – I have found many brilliant words of advice this way.
Find a place you are inspired – for me it is the Blue Mountains. I go there once a month to recharge, get out of the day to day and connect with more creative thinking
Talk to people you admire – and they can be anyone, from the guy who runs the coffee shop, (and works so hard!) to the guest speaker at a conference or event. Find qualities you like in people and explore how they do what they do – and more importantly, why.
If you can tap into what is really motivating you, there will be no stopping your business from becoming the success it is destined to be.
