Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has called for the regulation of organisations that are into development of artificial intelligence, his companies inclusive.  “All orgs developing advanced AI should be regulated, including Tesla” he tweeted.

Musk was according to Techcrunch, “responding to a new MIT Technology Review profile of OpenAI, an organization founded in 2015 by Musk, along with Sam Altman, Ilya Sutskever, Greg Brockman, Wojciech Zaremba and John Schulman. At first, OpenAI was formed as a non-profit backed by $1 billion in funding from its pooled initial investors, with the aim of pursuing open research into advanced AI with a focus on ensuring it was pursued in the interest of benefiting society, rather than leaving its development in the hands of a small and narrowly-interested few (i.e., for-profit technology companies).”

Musk has always been a voice against the potential danger of AI.

Back in April, during an interview at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, he warned that computers would someday surpass us in every single way. He also said during a talk sponsored by South by Southwest in Mach 2018 (SXSW 2018) that “we have to find a way to make sure [AI] is compatible with humanity… Mark my words. AI is much more dangerous than nukes.”

Apart from Musk, AI has previously been criticized by other tech leaders. In January for instance, Google boss, Sundar Pichai said that artificial intelligence must be regulated to save humanity from being hit by its dangers. He maintained in his writing in the Financial Times that it was “too important not to” be regulated but debated for “a sensible approach”. Pichai also wrote that “We need to be clear-eyed about what could go wrong”.
