People use the word “mentor” to describe a lot of different things. It could be a boss you go to for advice, a role model you look up to, a sponsor outside your company who is dedicated to connecting you to the right people, or even a friend you can always go to for solid career advice. It could be a formal mentorship relationship or just someone who has helped you out along the way.

So as you’re starting to think about finding mentors, which kind should you focus on having? We consulted three successful executives at Comcast to hear what types of relationships have helped them out the most.
