RISE Youth of the Week is Joy Isi Bewaji from Nigeria.
Joy Isi Bewaji is a smart, dynamic, all-round media personality who hails from Edo state.
Joy Isi Bewaji grew up in Festac Town in Lagos. She attended the Polytechnic Ibadan. Her Media experience and presence spans across TV, radio, online and print.
Joy Isi Bewaji is a writer and columnist, and has contributed to media platforms such as ThisDay and sabinews. She also serves as an Editor in the media and has edited celebrated lifestyle magazines in Nigeria – TW, Genevieve, Exquisite, and had at one time published a community magazine called Festac Breed.
She is a 2006 winner of LEAP Africa Awards. She was a part of the 9 writers, 4 cities tour 2009 in Nigeria. She co-anchored the Breakfast Show on HiTV, and was also the main anchor of a socio-political breakfast show on TV Continental called “Your View”. She is, at present, the editor of Happenings Magazine.
An activist. A feminist. A blooming serial entrepreneur. Joy engages in celebrity PR. She has written movies and TV scripts. “Tina’s Shoes & Love Issues” is an audio series she released in 2014.
She is the author of Eko Dialogue, a collection of short stories on the intrigues of Lagos, interpreted on stage by The Crown Troupe of Nigeria.
Her second book, “What pain may bring” is out.
She is also the presenter of the NASCO Moments radio show on City Fm titled Nasco Moments with Joy Isi Bewaji; a lively programme that tackles social issues with a dynamic mix of guest-talk and listener online participation.
