Top 5 Humanoid Robots You Need to Know About

Several humanoid robots have been created over the years, and I am delighted to tell you about some of them and why they are so fascinating.

In my previous article, I discussed the future of robotics and how it would alter how the world operates.

Today, I will discuss the top five humanoid robots you should be aware of.

Humanoid robots are some of the most cutting-edge out there, featuring advanced artificial intelligence, complex systems, and powerful sensors.

The world is fascinated by humanoid robots, we see them in science fiction movies, we see them in the news, and some of us even interact with them daily.

Humanoid robots are very useful in many industries as well: they can perform tasks that are too dangerous or too difficult for humans to do alone. They can work in construction sites or the military field.

Here are the Top 5 famous Humanoid Robots You Should Know

Geminoid DK

Geminoid DK is a humanoid robot built in Japan in 2010 by Hiroshi Ishiguro and his team at Osaka University’s Intelligent Robotics Laboratory. The robot is modelled after Danish physicist Henry Scharfe of the University of Aalborg.

Aiko Chihira

Aiko Chihira is a Japanese robot created by Toshiba in 2014 with state-of-the-art facial recognition software that allows her to make eye contact with up to four people at a time.
Aiko Chihira can speak Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean.

She works as a greeter at Mitsukoshi Department Store in Tokyo, where she greets customers and gives them directions. Her name means “loveable intelligent children.”

Jia Jia
Jia Jia is China’s first humanoid robot. This Chinese humanoid robot dazzles in Shanghai; people all over the world admire Jia Jia for her most natural and attractive appearance.

Jia Jia was developed by a research team at China’s University of Science and Technology.

This amazing robot can hold a regular conversation with humans who has microbial facial expressions, with the help of speech-generation algorithms and facial recognition technologies.

Although her speaking patterns are not smooth, Jia Jia compensates by appearing very human-like.

Nadine

Professor Nadia Magnenat Thalmann designed Nadine, a ginoide humanoid social robot. The robot matches a human in appearance, with natural-looking skin and hair and realistic hands.

Nadine is a socially intelligent robot that responds to greetings, maintains eye contact, and recalls all conversations with humans. Depending on the topic of the contact with the user, it can answer questions in several languages autonomously and replicate emotions through movements and facial expressions.

Nadine can recognize people she has seen before and participate in natural conversation.

Sophia
Sophia the robot is one of the most advanced humanoid robots in the world.

Sophia made her debut in 2016, and her contact with people was the most unexpected thing you’d ever witness in a machine.

Sophia has neural networks and artificial intelligence integrated into her to recognize human faces and interpret their gestures and emotions.

She can also communicate with a variety of people and reply appropriately.

In October 2017, Sophia the robot was given Saudi Arabian citizenship and became the first robot to receive citizenship of any country.

According to David Hanson, the founder of Hanson robotics the robot was modelled after the ancient Egyptian Queen Nefertiti, Audrey Hepburn, and his wife, Amanda Hanson.

The world of robotics is growing faster and more diverse than ever, with human-like prototypes being built in all shapes and sizes. Some are still far from becoming real products we’ll use regularly, but others are already starting to change our everyday lives. It’s hard to say which direction this industry is going to go in, but one thing is clear: the future will be filled with robots.
