Long before COVID-19 upended life and forced the world to shelter in place, the future of education has had sprinklings of artificial intelligence in methods and tools for teaching. From grading their students to personalized learning, world teachers and tutors have had to adapt to the demands of the age of analytics. But with a relatively low budget and badly managed education systems in Nigeria, students and teachers alike are unable to utilize fully new teaching models that AI offers making the student ill-equip to weather the storms of the 21st century.

If Nigeria as a nation of communities will produce a future generation, with the aim of having any currency in the world of tech and data science, children must be acquainted with technology right from their formative years. That is for future Nigerians to join in the global conversation of the digital age, tech and the knowledge of tech will play a key role.

Automated technology is rapidly leaving Nigeria behind with constant advancement. With plans to create tech-savvy Nigerian youths who in the nearest future would communicate less with humans and more with computers, automated technology is essential to their curriculum.

With the introduction of personalized automated help for students, one of the most utilized tools in education is very quickly becoming automated technology. With automated help for students, the learning process is evenly distributed, tailoring various learning methods for individual students to make the learning process more effective.

AI drastically reduces the workload of teachers providing them with more time to focus on the student that need their attention the most. With automated grading to mark and score their class texts, teachers can now spend grading time with their students who are having difficulties in learning certain topics or just need extra help.

Data scientists are also taking the teaching process to the next level with software like GeoGebra and some others programmed as games to teach students topics like geometry and grammar that a large number of learners struggle with. With these tools, students cultivate more healthy relationships with a subject that many find difficult. With better relationships with these subject students get encouraged to explore relatively unpopular fields essential human development like even robotics which many are fascinated by but shy away from.

In an article published in the British newspaper, The Telegraph in 2017, it was reported that a new study shows that too many toys can be bad for children. This has impacted many millennial parents’ decisions to introduce their children with gadgets like iPads and other tablets effectively making the children tech-savvy right from infancy. This creates a friendly relationship between children and technology. And so, there is a free flow when they start elementary school, the world of automated technology is nothing new to them.
