Are you a game freak? Then, this one is for you. Disney has developed a better experience to enjoy your Virtual Reality (VR) games. You know how you play VR games and end up stumbling on a table or the wall in front of you?
Well, Disney says they have found a more hazard-free mechanism to make your gaming experience seamless with its introduction of the HoloTile – an omnidirectional, multiplayer treadmill floor that connects body movement to the virtual world.
Now, you no longer have to use tethered treadmills, where running into other players or walls is a problem. The Holotile gives an illusion that you are moving without actually moving.
While this innovative tool can let you alert gamers of your virtual boundary, the large graphic overlays can still blur portions of your room causing some obstruction while playing your game. There’s no cause for alarm as the features are still in the works to suit your gaming pleasure to its fullest.
Following the “Take Control of Your Data” conference for Global Data Privacy Day, Nigeria plans to digitize public services to safeguard the data of citizens. The government aims to fully digitize all processes by 2025, reducing governance costs. Nigeria had experienced a significant increase in data breaches in the past, prompting a focus on data protection.
To raise awareness for this new plan, Data Privacy Day kicked off a week-long campaign . The Minister of Communications stresses the digitalization of services and investment in data protection. The National Assembly will collaborate to automate data collection while ensuring compliance with Data Privacy Law. While all plans are in the works, The NDPC is building a team of Data Protection Officers and investigating major data breach cases, aiming to generate revenue for the government.
One potential disadvantage of this digitization plan in Nigeria is the risk of widening the digital divide, as segments of the masses without access to digital technology or lacking digital literacy skills may be excluded from accessing available essential services.
One way to resolve this is to implement comprehensive digital literacy programs targeting underserved communities. By providing training and access to technology, these programs can empower individuals with the skills and resources needed to participate fully in the digital economy and access essential services online.
